The Concept

With Crater and Mission by MoonShot, filmmakers don’t just create a pitch – they elevate their ideas into something investors and audiences can’t ignore.

Context

Independent filmmakers are defined by their creativity and storytelling, but they often face significant challenges, including limited budgets, lack of technical resources, and difficulties in navigating complex production processes. While digital technology has democratized film production, it has also introduced new obstacles, making it harder for indie filmmakers to compete in a market dominated by larger studios and algorithm-driven platforms. These constraints limit their ability to produce professional-quality pitch films, which are crucial for securing funding and distribution.

The ideation process adapted with the project brief, focusing on diverse filmmaking methods. Logic-based word clouds shaped initial concepts, leading to a final system with a compact scouting camera for affordability. Transparent glass displays were too costly, aligning with the project's accessibility goal.

Ideation

Prototyping

Early testers highlighted the need for a simpler user interface. Their feedback led to adjustments in the AI’s suggestions and interface design.

The process followed the iterative model, with rapid cycles of feedback, refinement, and re-testing. The use of Raspberry Pi for hardware development helped keep costs low and allowed for quick adjustments.

Next Steps

Final Camera Prototype

The body of the camera is built with carbon fiber, with grips for ease of use. The tactiles buttons are for switching shots, making it swift to use. The use of Raspberry Pi for hardware development helped keep costs low and allowed for quick adjustments.

It however, lacks a battery module due to its bulkiness which shall be fixed in the upcoming versions
